My reasons for wanting to participate in The Blind Faith Race Team
and be a part of the pit crew is quite simple. Believe it or not, being a part of a pit crew is one of my lifelong dreams. For many years I have been told that people with my eye disease, macular degeneration will have limited opportunities. Having gone through the rehabilitation program here at Bosma Enterprises, has provided me with the knowledge, independence, and courage to not only believe in myself but it has shown me what I'm made of.
It is such a great feeling to know that due to my low vision, I can have the chance to be included in such a powerful movement. This race team is not just about giving Rickey Calhoun
the chance to beat the current world record of the fastest blind driver, Mike Newman of the UK. It's the chance for all of us on the team who are also blind or visually impaired to believe that even with our disability, we can overcome any obstacle by believing in ourselves and follow our dreams.
What I've learned through this journey we call life, is that the only limitation we have are the ones we set for ourselves.
Go to our GoFundMe
page and donate today. All donations will go towards the cost of the race car. Once we beat this record, Rickey plans to auction off the car and donate all proceeds to Bosma Enterprises rehabilitation program. This program has helped us all regain our life back after losing our sight and we want to give back. Help us so we can help others.
