Richard Chalmers

Richard Chalmers thinks it’s his friendly disposition that won him employee of the month.  Whether he’s working on the production line or at the reception desk, Richard has a smile for everyone.  In fact, it’s his co-workers that Richard likes the most about Bosma.    

“I try to have a relationship with the people I support on the glove line.  I try to be friends with everyone,” he says.

Richard came to Bosma out the Indiana School for the Blind’s work program.  He did such a good job as a student worker that Bosma hired him full time – and he’s been with us ever since. In seven years, Richard has enjoyed Employee of the Month honors three times – and for a good reason.  Richard strives every day to bring the same sense of joy to his work as he does to his co-workers.

“It gives me a sense of purpose, that I’m doing something.  I try not to take it for granted because everyone’s not as fortunate as I am,” he says.

When he’s not brightening up Bosma, Richard enjoys reading and bowling. Like many other Americans, he’s been bitten by the Twilight series which features some of his favorite characters, vampires.  Whether you see Richard answering phones out front or stacking skids in the back, be sure to offer him a smile of your next time you see him.
