Imagine. You’re 21, a member of your college basketball team, in the middle of pro tryouts and just two years away from earning your accounting degree, when a visit to the eye doctor changes everything. The doctors tell you something you never thought you would hear, “You have a genetic condition called, Retinitis Pigmentosa, which over time, will result in total blindness.”

Being the first of the six siblings to experience any vision problems left the White family in a state of confusion.  Tim White, now a Bosma Enterprises’ employee, had only previously shown signs of color blindness and sensitivity to light. Strangely, there had been no preexisting cases of RP in the White family tree.

Tim knew life must go on. He began working for a company named OneCall as an operator, for three years until his job was moved to the Dominican Republic. This left Tim unemployed.

Finally after two, long years out of work, Tim began to get very discouraged with staying at home.

“It was frustrating because I knew why I wasn’t getting hired,” he says.

Tim found Bosma Enterprises and began working with the Employment Services Department to find a job. After applying for several positions, Tim recognized the opportunities that were standing right in front of him.

“I came to the conclusion I wasn’t going to do much better than right here,” he says. “Bosma has good job security; the benefits are great, and the people have the same vision – for everyone to succeed.”

Ever since that time, Tim has developed and polished his skills. He started as a production worker and then began training as a front desk receptionist. He now gets the chance to train others and recently went through the Call Center training.

For all his hard work and dedication, Bosma Enterprises has honored Tim White as January’s Employee of the Month.

“If you had asked me seven years ago if I thought I would be doing what am I doing today, I would have told you no,” says Tim. “When you see the opportunities that open up, you realize the opportunities are endless – I can honestly say I am happy here.”
