Holiday Traditions

Bosma Enterprises - 12/12/2019 3:42:39 PM

The holidays are a time to spend with your family and friends and creating memories that last a lifetime. As we celebrate the holiday season, we asked a few employees about their favorite holiday traditions.

For account manager, Preston Richardson, the holidays are a time for him to visit his children and grandchildren in Houston, Texas. While there, Preston enjoys taking part in the holiday shopping experience. Preston believes in the importance of being present for his children and grandchildren during the holidays, helping to create long-lasting memories.

For Bistro manager, Lisa Carter, the holidays have always been a special occasion for her and her family. As the holiday nears, Lisa reflects on a few traditions and memories from her childhood. "My family would all get together at my parents' house on Christmas Eve and order a ton of pizzas from Pizza Hut. All the kids got new Christmas pajamas, and we were allowed to open one small gift, and all the kids would be so excited and talk about what Santa was going to bring us. We would be excited to go back to school but always had a hard time figuring out what new outfit to wear."

Christmas is the favorite time of year for assistive technology specialist, Mendi Evans. Mendi's Christmas traditions begin at midnight after Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, Mendi begins to decorate her house and enjoy a long playlist of her favorite Christmas songs. "A few weeks before Christmas, my parents help me find and decorate a live Christmas tree with the ornaments I have collected over the years. Every year I try to watch Home Alone and Home Alone 2, and Miracle on 34th Street (the original version). Christmas Eve, I head for my parents' house for festivities with the family. Even as an adult, I still enjoy spending Christmas Eve with my parents and wake up Christmas morning wondering if it's time to get up yet."

The holiday season tends to bring out the inner child in all of us. People who are blind have the same experiences as those with vision. We all enjoy shopping for our loved ones, spending time with family and friends and watching the endless slew of holiday movies. On behalf of Bosma Enterprises, we wish you happy holidays and a safe and happy New Year.
