Volunteering Your Time

Bosma Enterprises - 12/30/2019 3:47:22 PM

Volunteering doesn't just benefit an organization, it also benefits the volunteer. Learn about one of our most dedicated volunteers, Bill Hasbrook.

Volunteers play a pivotal role in our efforts to create opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired. They help us fulfill our mission, and provide critical support to our clients attending our Center for Visionary Solutions for the Blind. They also play a vital role in helping with assisting clients during outings, acting as sighted guides, and assist with fundraising events like Dining in the Dark, and have even helped us with facility needs like landscaping and painting.

Donating your time, talent and resources not only has a positive effect on the organization, but it also makes a positive impact on you. There's never going to be a perfect time to give — but there are always people out there in need of help. When you donate your time and resources to Bosma Enterprises, you are helping create opportunities for the thousands of Hoosiers living with a visual impairment. You may even meet new people who believe in the same causes that inspire you. Making a real impact on those causes can permeate your everyday life with more meaning.

For Bill Hasbrook, donating his time and resources to a worthy cause like Bosma Enterprises is something he cherishes. Bill and his family are longtime supporters of Bosma Enterprises and our mission. His father, Thomas Hasbrook, worked in the Indiana General Assembly and was one of the original board members at Bosma Enterprises.

"I've attended all 23 Hasbrook Awards luncheons," said Bill. The Hasbrook family has a long-standing tradition of giving back to their community, whether it be through a financial contribution or volunteering their time. Bill is continuing the Hasbrook tradition of giving back to the community by volunteering at Bosma Enterprises.

For the past year, Bill has come to Bosma Enterprises at least one day a week, donating his time and talent to Bosma Visionary Opportunities Foundation (BVOF). While at Bosma Enterprises, Bill helps solicit end of the year contributions, silent auction gifts for events like Dining in the Dark and the Visionary Golf Classic and participates on the advisory committee for the Foundation's capital campaign.

Donating his time and resources to a worthy cause like Bosma Enterprises is a passion for Bill Hasbrook, and he believes others should consider Bosma Enterprises as a recipient of their generosity. "There is a 70% unemployment rate for people who are blind, and that is unacceptable."

The impact that Bosma Enterprises is making in the lives of people who are blind and in the lives of those living in central Indiana is life-changing. Bosma Enterprises is working on changing the narrative on the capabilities of people who are blind. When you donate your time, talent or resources to Bosma Enterprises, you are making an impact on those currently living with blindness or those who may need our help and support in the future. Please consider making an end of the year, tax-deductible gift to Bosma Enterprises, so we can continue to help fight the 70% unemployment rate for people who are blind.
