Bosma Enterprises - 2/11/2016 3:25:24 PM

Age-related vision loss is one of the leading causes of vision loss in the United States. That’s why Bosma Enterprises offers critical, life-changing programs to seniors to restore hope and show them that life doesn’t end with vision loss.

Doris-(1).jpg Bosma Enterprises has received a grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust to provide services to seniors living in Marion, Boone, Hancock, Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Shelby and Morgan counties. These services include counseling to help with the adjustment to vision loss and orientation and mobility training to learn skills to navigate safely both inside and outside of the home. The services can be provided in the client’s home or at Bosma Enterprises’ facility at 8020 Zionsville Rd. Indianapolis, and transportation can be provided. These programs are offered at no cost to the clients.

Adjusting to vision loss has been equated by many to the grieving process of losing a loved one. It can be devastating. Bosma Enterprises, through this grant, can offer counseling that can help. Through this program, clients will have the opportunity to speak with a social worker to work through their feelings and to develop coping skills.

The orientation and mobility training teaches a client on how to use a white cane to navigate their community safely. Use of the white cane can be a major step in reclaiming independence.
