Disability Awareness Month Profile: Robin Kyle

Bosma Enterprises - 3/12/2018 10:04:55 AM

March is Disability Awareness Month in Indiana. Bosma Enterprises is participating in several ways. Watch our social media and our blog for updates throughout the month. We are posting several profiles of our employees to highlight the work they do and their lives.

Robin Kyle was a young adult when she was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. Robin knew she could not let her blindness hold her back, but she wasn’t sure where to turn. She was living in Cincinnati and in a rehabilitation program to learn how to best use her remaining vision. When she completed her training, she learned she was expecting her first child and decided to move her family to Indianapolis in search of employment.

That was when she found Bosma Enterprises. She completed further rehabilitation training after she lost her remaining vision in 2001 and then was thrilled to accept a position at Bosma. Having a full-time job changed Robin’s life. She had her independence back and was able to care for her family. Since being at Bosma, Robin has made many friends, most in which she considers family. Robin recently joined Bosma’s Toastmasters club and has since found her voice.

When Robin is not spending time with her two grandchildren, she enjoys reading, baking and bowling. She has played on the Indiana Blind Bowlers League for two years, and even won third place in an event at their recent tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.
