You Don’t Have To See To Have A Vision

Patty Preston

“I’m realistic about my (job) search but if there’s one thing Bosma taught me, it’s never lose your hope or vision of a new life. Hang in there and you will find your something,” Patty said.

Dream Job Turns Into Reality

Joe Presley

Bosma’s employment specialists worked with Joe on creating an effective updated resume, brushing up his computer skills, and teaching him how to use new assistive devices. “They coached me and encouraged me and rooted for me. I spent 13 weeks learning how to navigate my blindness. I learned a lot about myself and my abilities – not disabilities,” said Joe.

Children Can Be Heroes Too

Shaunell Wright

“When you see a child journey through their life, having to overcome major adversities, it is heroic,” Shaunell said. “She advocates, challenges, and never allows herself to feel sorry. She shows me I can do this, too.”

“The instructors are patient and encouraging. They work with you where you are in your journey and individualize the programs according to your needs. You also get a great sense of community with the other clients. I loved my experience there,” Kathryn said.

The Measure of Success

Evelyn Sue Bough

“I was always active and now, with modifications that Amy showed me for my walking sticks, I’m back walking at the YMCA. I do water aerobics twice a week. I’m comfortable in my own home. It feels good.”

Go Where the Journey Takes You

“I would tell others facing the challenges of blindness to take time to grieve…but not too much time. You can get your independence back. I do things now that I couldn’t do before. I love cooking and baking. I have more computer skills than ever, and the white cane gives me the independence I craved,” said Karen.
